Sailing Project By Rotary Chiswick/Brentford and Rotary Malta
Rotary Club of Chiswick/Brentford (London, UK) and Rotary Club of Malta are developing a Social Tourism Sailing Project in an effort to foster sailing in Malta commencing from 2018 spring for the following groups:
- People with disabilities and special needs
The aim of the project is to increase participation in tourism and particularly in sailing for those that would not have access to this activity whether through means and abilities. Objectives include fostering international collaboration between students and demonstrating the benefits of teamwork with building confidence and leadership between participants.
The two Rotary Clubs are evaluating registered sailing charities in Malta to select the one that meets project needs. Current proposal is the Malta Sail Training Association (MSTA), which has been supporting many individuals already by taking them on sail training experiences. The goal is to obtain and equip a sail training vessel for sustainable operation out of Malta. This way a controlled environment can be provided for placing people on the edge of their comfort zone through which teamwork and individual growth can be developed and lifetime experiences can be gained.
Chiswick/Brentford and Malta Rotary clubs are encouraging charities and organisations to engage in the project to be able to send many people from identified groups to the training events. All kinds of funding and cooperating enquiries are welcome, including partnerships and public relations.
